Next to egg tarts, bolo buns and milk tea, the condensed milk bun isn’t as exciting as its cha chaan teng menu counterparts. But the crispy toasted bun, slathered with butter and cradling a pool of sweet condensed milk, is truly one of the best snacks to go with a robust nai cha.
Joy Luck Teahouse, the cha chaan teng chain conceptualised by veteran TVB producer Robert Chua, is opening its sixth outlet — a franchised one — at Sembawang’s Sun Plaza mall, which is situated right next to Sembawang MRT is a 7 min drive or 14 min walk from Provence Residence.
Along with the new opening is a new menu item, Crispy Condensed Milk Bun ($2.80). As its name suggests, it’s two buttered mini baguette halves drizzled with condensed milk.
It will be exclusively available at the Sun Plaza outlet from Feb 18-21, at a promotional price of $2.50. The bun will also be served at Joy Luck Teahouse’s five other outlets after Feb 21.
If you’re too lazy to go out, the chain has also launched islandwide delivery via GrabFood (orders will be sent out from the Chinatown branch).
